This is the food anime I’ve been looking for. Nothing other worldly. Just real food in the real world.
I’ve learned so much.even though I’m vegetarian I still find it fascinating.
I had pictures from this in an anime magazine from the year it came out. I had been trying to identify it for years because I can’t read the Japanese. I jumped for joy when I first saw his face here.
What a treat it turned out to be so good.

Better than food wars

For sure
I use to enjoy food wars when it first appeared. I read it ever since the early chapters but it quickly got to be too much. The creators just lost the ability to articulate on flavor, texture, skill, ect... and replaced criticism with silly reactions that became farther and farther away from something that could be understood as food judging.
while they started off decent its because the creators aren't greatly into the world of the culinary that it fell off and became so generic and soulless. I grew to hate the expected reactions of the characters and judges tasting the food. It became more of a Gag manga/anime than anything set in realism. Especially the over the top techniques which I forgave both of when I was first getting into the manga. I was kinda happy that some ppl were trying to get into cooking because it was the new hot thing but at the same time it was a passing fancy for most of them. I'm glad its over....
But Oishinbo I loved all the way through, also cooking papa, cooking boy, and a ton of old school cooking manga/anime that really give that realism feeling.
